How possible is it to build a brand online and make a ton of sales every time without running a single ad? In this case study, you’ll see how Esther Bamiloshin – a Relationship Coach, Founder of Diary of a Single Lady and author of 2 books (7 Days Prayer Guide For Singles and Relationship 101) is building her brand online using her personality and influence.
As a media technocrat (she likes to call herself that), Esther Bamiloshin is excellent in communication, writing, coaching and speaking. She’s a relationship coach who is passionate about singles. Her desire is to see singles maximise their singlehood, and relationships. She also helps them build foundations for a lasting marriage.
Diary of a Single Lady is on a mission to crush the head of divorce by starting from the grassroots. Many marriages would turn out better if both parties adequately spend their singlehood working on being the best version of themselves and if they spend their courtship phase preparing for the long journey called marriage. Many singles are going through so much hurt and it is affecting their productivity. Diary of a Single Lady runs different programmes to help singles physically, spiritually, intellectually and emotionally thus helping the society churn out better marriageable people that will hold the family front and by extension, the society.”
Everyone has a unique streak that makes them different in the marketplace. But to get to that point, there’s always a process. Here’s Esther’s story.
I have always been that person that everyone comes to for Relationship advice and somehow, the things I encourage them to do or not do works out for them.
So it has been more of a calling for me and a natural inclination that I have developed. It’s something I wake up every morning to think about. I literally spend my day talking and reading about singlehood/relationships/marriages and I just knew I had to take it seriously. So far, it has been from one baby step to the other. Right now my team and I are taking giant strides and we are surely making progress, meeting people’s needs, one person per time.
Over the months, I have had offline speaking engagements, I have written two books and the feedback is simply amazing! I have had lots of sessions with people that has yielded great results, and I have also been able to run two major projects – Widows Love Project where we went to the houses of widows to show them love and to give them gifts and #Pad30Project a project where we distributed sanitary pads to ladies with the Word of God inscribed on the pads, to remind them that we don’t just have a monthly flow, we also flow with the Word of God.
Taking that first step was my greatest challenge. I was very uncertain and I wasn’t sure if it was something I really wanted to do. I had the end in my mind’s eye, but the thought of how rough the career path might possibly be, scared me.
The possibility of not having an income challenged me. I knew I was passionate, but I also knew being passionate alone wasn’t going to pay the bills. I am not 100% there, but I am surely on the path to earning what I really desire while doing effortlessly, what I absolutely love.
An Insider Look At Her Marketing Strategy
While I use any platform available to market myself and the products/services of Diary of a Single Lady, social media has been my primary tool towards achieving them. Every day I wake up, I engage my audience to feel their pulse and from there I create relationship content that will positively affect my audience.
Online, I run lots of free and paid conferences, sessions, Masterclasses and because of that, people get to listen to me and they fall in love with my offerings. Many clients have become my ardent followers just because of one encounter with me.
Some also engage in one-on-one counselling where they gain clarity on issues surrounding their love lives and because they have ‘tasted the pudding’, they unconsciously become my advert managers by referring other people to me. Some have even gotten to the extent of inviting me to speak on their online and offline platforms.
The Impact of Digital Media
After my website got setup on Talenthost, I got 600 visitors in less than two weeks without running any paid adverts! I created and launched my second book, “Relationship 101” and I have had many people buy it without running any paid adverts as well.
Even my online sessions which often hold on WhatsApp have more than 100 people per time and all I do is post on my platforms to announce the sessions.
I’ve been able to successfully project my personality on social media to the point where my influence speaks for me, even though I may not have millions of followers.
Social has helped me tremendously!!! I don’t have to wait for a mentor to give me his platform. I don’t have to wait for a church to give me room to prove my worth. With social media, I have been able to reach so many people even outside the shores of Nigeria. I have been able to build connections and relationships with people, help so many singles gain clarity and some romantic relationships have even been established courtesy of Diary of a Single Lady.
I have been able to step up my game and show the world the amount of investment that has gone into my becoming process and how passionate I am at making the world a better place. I met many of my team members online before we had the opportunity to meet in person. The world of social media is so powerful and real, and those that are willing to leverage it, get the best from it.
“Don’t limit yourself. That talent, passion and skill is in you for a reason. You can build an entire empire by deliberately leveraging on social media to promote your skills, talents and passions.”
– Esther Bamiloshin
Growing my brand has made me feel more confident about myself and my abilities. It has made me more compassionate and sensitive about the needs of others.
I keep breaking my past records of achievements, and I find myself touching more lives and creating impact which I know will have ripple effects. Now I am a voracious reader of books because I know for me to provide fresh insights, I have to understand the entirety of Relationships.
Consistency is one thing I know can take my brand to the next level. I think consistency is one word that encompasses discipline, commitment, creativity and innovation. In 5 years, I see my brand bigger and better with huge global reach.
